Why???... |
|
Rev. Charles Willey |
| A simple "one
word question", but think how often it is used ----
probably more than any other. A little child in its'
world of wonder asks the question. Confused teenagers who
just can't understand adult reasoning repeat it over and
over. Aging persons, trying to discover reasons for
illness, discomfort or loneliness, use the question. Why
did you buy that particular house, car or article of
clothing? Why did you grow a beard, tint your hair, marry
that person? Why did you go or not go to college or take
your present job? Why do we do anything we do? More often
than not it's because most of us are seeking, searching
or fantasizing something that will make life fuller,
richer and more complete. |
| Our purpose in joining a civic
group or social organization is because our participation
and involvement in it gives us pleasure, joy, acceptance
and satisfaction. It fulfills our inner longing to
belong. |
| Why should I belong to a church?
There must be many, many reasons. More importantly, why
should I become a member of the First Christian Church of
Moline? Here are just a few reasons -- |
| 1. First Christian
Church of Moline is "understandable". Its'
doctrines are simple, but sound. 2. Its' people are "down to earth", uncomplicated and unstilted. 3. It believes in the sovereignty of Almighty God and that Jesus Christ is the son of God and the Savior of every professed follower. 4. It believes in your right to interpret the scriptures according to your best understanding and guides you into broader perceptions. 5. Its' congregation is made up of friendly, loving, caring people who form a "Community of the Concerned" for inspiration, comfort and support. 6. It has a dedicated ministry that nurtures the church family through meaningful worship, sound preaching and prayerful pastoral concern. 7. It conducts a church school for every age so that insight and understanding might be enhanced. 8. It provides social outlets that speak to widely varied interests for all. 9. First Christian Church of Moline engenders an atmosphere of loving fellowship and positivism wherein all can contribute to the building of a better world and deepen their spiritual awareness. 10. A place where youth and
children our most precious treasures, can grow and
develop in body, mind and spirit. |
| First Christian
Church of Moline has been a part of my life for more than
forty-five years. It has blessed me and my family in
countless ways. It extends its' arms to you with a loving
invitation to join us. |
| Why become a part of the family
of First Christian Church? For all the previously stated
reasons and because it will feed your soul and bless your
life. THAT'S
WHY!!!! |
